Sock knitting

So I have been knitting since March.  I saw so many blogs where the quilters were knitting socks.  Or were the sock knitters quilting?  IDK.  This is my second pair of socks.  Doing much better (and faster) than the first pair.  This is Wisdom Marathon Sock yarn I found at Tuesday Morning.  Probably not the best, but I figured it would be ok to practice with.  This was last Friday's picture.  Now I just have about 1.5" left of the foot and I am ready to knit the toe!  Woo Hoo!!

How would we survive if we had to knit our own socks?  I have been working on this one for three weeks.
