Magnolia State Fiber Fest

I just returned from the first Magnolia State Fiber Fest in Vicksburg, MS.  Just realized I did not take a picture at the festival :(.  It was held at the Lady Luck Casino Event Center--the room was so dark it was like being in a cave.  The vendors all had to go out and purchase additional lighting for their booths.  There were all sorts of fiber vendors--yarns, hand dyes, exotic fibers, patterns, soaps, and even a brick and mortar store.  There were several booths devoted to spinning and had different wheels and looms.  It was very interesting.

I took a class today with Laura Linneman.  Toe up socks with the afterthought heel.  I really enjoyed the class.  Hope I can remember how to do the "Judy's Magic Cast on" next time I need to use it.
I tried to restrain myself and did just a little shopping.  The wine colored skein is from Lost City Knits--their hand dyed yarns were so amazing!!  I was in the booth three times before I could make a decision.  I also purchased a pattern for a small shawl.  Two double skeins of Lorna's Laces sock--half price!!  Wool plaid for a wool applique project I hope to make one day.

The would skein in the back has my little sample of toe up sock on it.  You can't really tell what is going on with it.

I had a fun trip and would like to attend a fiber festival again some time.
