Another Busy Sewing Weekend!

This past weekend I went to the Gulf States Quilt Association's Seminar in New Orleans.  Three days of quilty goodness!  Two days I took wool applique classes with Rebekah L. Smith.  She is a wonderful teacher.  I loved the stitching, and her class was quite informative.  She also hand dyes her fabrics--wow what beautiful colors!! I almost finished both projects:
This is a sewing caddy.  You can tuck threads or scissors in the heart, and one of the wings is a pin cushion.  I still need to finish stitching details before I stitch it to the backing.
This panel will be sewn to a small burlap basket.  I just need to attach to the backing first.

I also took an entire day off just to work on my projects.  I sewed a modern style top for my niece's graduation present and basted it:
And I basted a quilt for my son and daughter in law's anniversary.  They were married in Hawaii, and I bought fabrics to make them a quilt....five years ago!  Time to get this thing quilted.  It is king sized.
I really enjoyed the weekend.  I got so much accomplished!

  1. You did get a lot accomplished! Are you quilting the king size quilt on your sewing machine? I just finished my first king size quilt and dropped it off at the Longarm quilters. I don't think I could quilt it myself. Love the Hawaiian fabrics and the design you used.

  2. I'm going to try to quilt on my sewing machine. Just straight line quilting, with a big flower in the printed blocks. I hope I can wrangle all that fabric. I'm about 25% finished with the straight line quilting for the modern quilt. I didn't want to pay for the longarmer if I didn't have to, so I will give the quilting a try. I've done it several times before. Thanks!
