Speedy Socks Friday

How fast can I crank out a pair of shorty socks???  I'm trying to find out.  This is the Rose City Roller pattern, but I used the Fish Lips Kiss heel instead of the heel in the pattern.  The yarn is some Knit Picks (Stroll maybe?) in a watermelon colorway.  Been in my stash for years.  I think it is ugly.  The picture really makes the yarn look good.  Much better than in person.  I have another skein too.

I think I have a little over two inches of foot remaining before I begin the toe on the second sock.  I want to finish by the end of the month--yikes!!  Less than 24 hours!!

August 1st I'm casting on Insouciant for Camp Loopy while on a road trip with my running buddies to Shreveport for a sprint triathlon.  Hope to get a lot of quality knitting time in!

  1. I'm knitting this pattern, too, but added a ribbing and am using the short row heel. Is that really using the pattern?? I do like yours and may knit another pair without the ribbing. I'll see how they fit.

    1. I knitted 10 rows before starting the heel. They are a little short for my big feet. Next time I will knit the cuff longer.

  2. Thanks so much for the name of this sock pattern. I've been wanting to try a footie style sock and use up some leftover sock yarns. This looks perfect. I really like the color of your watermelon socks. Not ugly to me. I tried to buy some of the watermelon stripe yarn awhile back but they were out of stock. I thought they would be fun to knit.
